"We have begun a list of books for study resources...I want to point out that yes, there are many "popular flavor of the month" newer publications  out there. But the work of the farrier still, and must always, remain true to the very basics of equine anatomy, forging, trimming and fitting techniques. Science and discovery will always bring better understanding of certain pathologies that we must deal with but the "basics" of what we do will ALWAYS be the biggest part of what we do.

So, attempts to re-invent the wheel are not  only redundant but confuse and mislead unnecessarily. Our goal is to put out suggestions for solid materials. Resources that have stood the test of time.

By authors who truly understand how to teach clearly and for those whose goal is a hands on testing or written exam, we can honestly say that your greatest asset is investing in your own study habits!

Good old fashioned 3x5 cards and a pen are your best tools, make your own flashcards by writing things down, you will greatly increase your retention skills. Along with reading materials that explain clearly the fundamentals of farriery."
